I was on a holiday with my family in a beach resort near Mahabalipuram.Little did I know what awaited me
I was at the Shore Temple, right on the sea coast at Mahabalipuram, with my wife and little daughter at around 1 pm. At around 2 pm we returned to our beach resort hotel and a few minutes later I started getting frantic calls from my relatives and friends asking if I was ok. We didn’t know about the earthquake and switched on the TV. A few minutes later, we were shocked to see the scroll in the news, stating the Tsunami warning in the Indian Ocean. Naturally we decided to check out and head home immediately.
The entire resort was filled with guests checking out and on the way home, i could see people milling on the roads along the shoreline.The traffic was so much with everyone on the roads, that from Thiruvanmayur onwards it took me three hours to get home after reaching Chennai!
Still cant get over the fact of how myself and my family came so close to a Tsunami, which luckily for all, did not happen!
